Question:
Anyone have any ideas as to why my Stanley Grarage Door would open by itself?
For the second time in 2 weeks, it opened, and then started flashing the light,
as if it had hit something. I don't think it is another remote, as we are far
from the road, and our nearest neighbor. ANy clues, hints, suggestions?
Answer:
I had two Stanley garage door openers in my garage about 25 years ago.
They were the cheap model. Anytime there was any lightning (it didn't
have to be real close) one or both of these garage doors would open. I
called Stanley, and they talked about electric motors coming on and
causing the problem. I tried putting noise suppression across the
signal input wire to no avail. I finally gave up and bought 2 Sears
openers. I'm not trying to sell Sears, but I have never had that
problem with them. I suppose other electro-magnetic events, such as
electric motors could cause the problem, but as I remember it only
happened when there was some lightning.
