Question:
I am going to convert an inside single bay garage into living space. Its
a 5 yr old split entry. The concrete floor is sloped towards the garage
door for inside drainage. What is the proper way to bond material to the
existing floor ? Can I use DAP floor leveler, its a concrete product ?
I would say at the lowest point I will need to build the floor up by 3
inches max. I also think I will need to add a small foundation wall to
the area where the door sits as the floor there is only 2 inches above
grade. Can anybody point me in the right direction please ?
Answer:
Why not put in a false floor? Taper cut some 2x sleepers to bring the
floor level. Lay them over a PVC garage floor and insulate between with
rigid foam. Fasten to the concrete with powder driven fasteners. That's
the way my home office floor is built.
