Question:
What im looking for but havent been able to find anywhere on the net or in
stores is this...
a keychain fob-type controller, with at least 2 buttons
one button to operate a genie intellicode garage door opener, and the other
button to operate a linear-brand automatic security gate. the linear uses
dipswitches, the genie has rolling codes.
they both make their own key fob, and i have both, but it would be sooo nice
to have just one that does both. even considered taking the guts out of both
and squeezing them into a tiny "hobby box", but it wouldnt be either easy or
elegant, and i would probably end up with the broken guts from 2 key fob
remotes.
right now, i have em duct-taped back to back, since one has a broken key
loop thingie.
Answer:
I can't do nothin' for ya, man. But I like the 'tiny hobby box' idea. I
agree that it wouldn't be easy, but there's no reason it couldn't be
elegant. Just be careful while you're taking them apart, and don't break
anything you might need later.
Personally, I'd stick 'em to the sunshade or the headliner somewhere near
it, over the driver's seat, using double-sided tape or maybe velcro
stickers. I'm figuring that, if I'm driving the car into the garage, the
driver's seat of the car is a pretty safe bet for where I'll be.
