Question:
Does anyone have an opinion on the relative benefits of wood vs. steel
insulated garage doors?
I've read the literature and steel appears to be superior in terms of
durability.
However, wood seems superior with respect to appearance.
Have not seen a steel insulated garage door. Do not want steel if it looks
cheap.
Answer:
The nice thing about steel is no maintenance, and you can choose
from an array of styles, i.e. fan lites, different patterns ect. rollups
don't require springs that can break over time. Wood doors, however have
that look of -wood, and can be purchased in different types of wood, oak,
mahogany, ect. and you can get fan lites in the wood also, but there is a
maintenance to be done on the wood doors. You may want to go to Home Depot
and look at the texture of the steel doors.
