Question:
I would like to warn those buying from this company that I have not
had a happy experience with Genie. I bought a Genie Medallion garage
door opener in 1995 because it has a "lifetime" guarantee. The remote
control is now working poorly with almost no range. Three different
remote transmitters all work the same. Poor range. After calling
their trouble nember and the original installing company, I understand
nobody will come out to fix it without Genie OK and Genie wants me to
troubleshoot it instead of taking responsibility. This was not what I
expected when I bought their product. Furthermore, sending an email
to them bounces as if they do not want to support their customers. I
would advise anybody considering Genie products to not expect much
support from them if they have trouble with the product. I am very
disappointed in Genie's customer/product "support".
Does anyone have comment about this please?
Answer:
First check the batteries in all transmitters. Next try to read the
garage door opener's manual for a clue and last maybe replace one
transmitter to see if that helps.
I second the comments about Genie. I tried to email them...to no avail.
I called them. Once was on hold for 15 minutes. Finally got them to send
me a part. I gave them all the info they asked for....sent the wrong
part. Called them to tell them I'd pay for it when I got the right part.
Spent another 12 minutes on hold. Finally left a message after being
assured they would respond within 48 hours. It is now over 6 weeks later
and no response.
I'll never buy a Genie again.
