Question:
what are resin and garage kits? and why do they costs so much
more then plastic models. Are these models recomended for just
expeirenced modelers? Are they like so detailed that they don't require
painting? Sorry the thing is i've been spending most of my time
collecting injection plastic models that o totally forgot what they are
I really need your help.
Answer:
Garage Kits are model made from vinyl or resin.
they are called so, because of small number of produced kits.
resin is type of material that can hold detail better than plastic.
that is why they are so expensive than regular plastic kits. they are
molded in whole pieces instead of halves like regular plastic kits.
so they are heavier, and complete solid after it is built. not hollow like
the plastic kits.
Usually resin and g-kits are the same. They are called g-kits cause
you can actually design and make the parts in a garage (without
massive manufacturing equipment)
They cost that much because resin isn't cheap, they don't make more
than usually 2000 max, and the time for the artist to sculpt it.
I feel it wasn't too hard to build, it's just like plastic, once you
have enough experience it's not hard at all, you'll just have to
screw one up first before you can figure it out.
I sand, fill and paint just like if it was plastic, you'll just have
to be more careful since the material is softer than plastic.
