Question:
Will putting styrofoam panels on the inside of my garage door make any
significant difference in the warmth of the garage? I live in Michigan
and would like to work in the garage during the winter, the washer &
dryer are taking up too much room in the basement. Can anyone help me please?
Answer:
It made a big improvement in my (attached) garage ... assuming that the
walls and ceiling are insulated.
The styrofoam is probably a fire hazard though. I'll remove mine when I
sell.
I bought a garage door blanket lit which I fastened to the inside of my
garage doors in NJ.
It came with a large white vinyl cover and insulation ( probably fiberglass
between layer. The kit had small square metal plates that were nailed at
about one foot ontervals to hold it in place.
Paint the styrofoam with latex exterior paint and the fire hazard is
reduced almost entirely.
