Question:
Have seen this advertised, wondered if it was any good. This is a three
part system, with a cleaner, a finish, and a sealer (I believe). Supposed
to look good and make cleanup (even oil stains) very easy. Any input, is
this finish as slick as glass when wet, etc. Does anyone have any suggestion about the using of the garage floor system.?
Answer:
I tried it on my garage floor about a year ago. I used the Thompson's garage
floor cleaner, then their latex garage floor paint. Application was easy, and
the latex was nice because it lacks the fumes that epoxy puts out.
BUT, this paint is garbage... After a year, it is flaking in many areas (even
though I thoroughly cleaned the floor prior to application, as per their
instructions). I spend more time sweeping the paint chips off the floor. Also,
this paint is easily picked up by hot car tires.
I used the Thompson's because I didn't want to deal with the epoxy fumes, but
now I wish that I had either used the epoxy, or left the floor unfinished.
I wouldn't trust any product or claim made by Thompson's.
Thompson's Water Seal is the most despised product on this website
followed closely by Wagner sprayers, Craftsman power tools and Harbor
Freight.
I would choose a 2 part epoxy product from a industrial coating
supplier that serves commercial businesses.
